The Morris Motor Company was started in 1910 when bicycle manufacturer William Morris turned his attention to car manufacturing and began to plan a new light car. A factory was opened in 1913 at Cowley in Oxford, the first car being the two seater Morris Oxford Bullnose.
In 1952, it was eventually merged with Austin to form the British Motoring Corporation and MG, Riley & Wolseley were also incorporated into the marque.
