Herbert Austin founded The Austin Motor Company in 1905 in Longbridge and it remained as a separate entity until it merged with the Nuffield Organisation (the parent company of Morris) in 1952.
Since then the new company has had various names such as British Leyland, Austin Rover to name just a few.
