Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars.
The company name comes from one of it's founders, Lionel Martin, and from the Aston Hill speed climb which took place in Buckinghamshire. Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. They had joined forces in 1912 to sell Singer cars but shortly after decided to make their own vehicles.
